Hot on the heels of the release of the Maxpedition Active Shooter Bag series, Maxpedition has released another variant of the Jumbo versipack based on feedback of hundreds of law enforcement officers.
The most obvious changes are external: the water bottle pocket has been removed and replaced by a general utility pouch with external PALS webbing, and the standard small pouch has been replaced with velcro lidded pouch with lateral elastic retention. This pouch can be used to carry a radio, or can act as a dual AR-15 / M16 / M4 magazine pouch, capable of handling any standard 30 round STANAG magazine or the popular Magpul P-MAG. In addition, a grab handle has been added to the top lid pocket.
Less obvious are the other differences; the bag material has been changed to PU-coated 800d nylon for lighter weight; a pouch capable of holding a 5″ phone has been added, the HK-style snap hook has been replaced with a closed D ring loop, and the belt attaching loop on the back has been replaced with a removable waist-strap.
No word at this time if there will be a S-Type version of the Jumbo LEO Versipack.
