Added pics and specs to CS-88CS Cold Steel 1917 Cutlass

In 1917, the U.S. Navy decided to replace its Model 1860 cutlass which had been in continuous service for 57 years, with a new model. Cold Steel’s® modern recreation of this classic fighting sword is as authentic as possible, it is virtually an exact copy of an original in the personal collection of Cold Steel President, Lynn C. Thompson. Our 1917 Cutlass features the signature 25″ curved blade and a half basket guard that’s stamped out of heavy 18-guage high carbon steel, and both the blade and guard are blued to resist rusting. The handle is made from carefully shaped hardwood, painted brown and secured to the tang by three heavy brass cutler’s rivets.

This changed at the close of the 1940’s, when the Communists took control of mainland China, forcing many Kung Fu masters to flee the oppressive regime and establish new schools elsewhere. Currently, due to the spread of Kung Fu, these once obscure swords have become quite popular.

Added pics and specs to CS-88DD Cold Steel Willow Leaf Sword

This is the classic Chinese broadsword used by soldiers and civilians alike from ancient times right up through the 1940’s. Its broad, heavy blade is distal tapered to aid balance and perfectly shaped for all cutting, slashing, and chopping strokes. For ease of handling, it comes with a 7″ long cord wrapped handle (one and a half hands in length) as well as a brass guard and pommel.
